Independence Pointe was constructed within the footprint of Pride’s new Bismarck development in north Bismarck. The development provides housing, supportive services and amenities for special needs households. The fully handicap accessible two-story building consists of 24 units – 19 one-bedroom and 5 three-bedroom that will allow residents the ability to enjoy an independent lifestyle. The open space design resulted in rooms that are larger and floor plan layouts that are fluid so that residents that rely on walkers or wheelchairs are able to operate efficiently in their homes with Pride’s staff able to assist them in a convenient and effective manner. Unit amenities include motion-activated lights in bathrooms and closets, outlets and light switches placed at accessible heights, and hearing impaired aids such as lights to indicate when doorbells or alarms are used. The development features a central laundry room, a common area for activities and events, as well as office facilities for staff members. It is located on a bus route providing easy access to transportation for residents as needed. The development provides 24/7 staff availability to residents, allowing for peace of mind for both residents and their family. Construction was completed December 2014.
