The Grand Forks Housing Authority (GHFA) in conjunction with Mountain Plains Equity Group, Inc. (MPEG) are working to develop Jackson Flats Community, a 40-unit affordable housing community dedicated to qualifying seniors aged 62 and over.
This affordable senior housing facility is to be located at approximately 2350 36th Avenue South in Grand Forks. The project site is located directly east of a Wal Mart Supercenter. The project is conveniently located in close proximity to retail centers, medical facilities, churches, schools, parks, municipal services and public transportation. This project was planned and designed specifically to address a critical shortage of affordable housing for seniors in the Grand Forks area. Jackson Flats Community will also feature a project-based Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) Contract which will allow 38 residents to only pay 30% of their income towards rent.
Known as Jackson Flats Community, this project is designed as a single 2-story building. The 40-unit rental property consists of 34 one-bedroom units, and 6 two-bedroom units. Each individual apartment unit offers a spacious floor plan, full kitchen with Energy Star appliances, carpeting and hard surface flooring, window blinds, washer/dryer, air conditioning, and indoor corridors for more secured access. The facility is designed to provide a relaxed and interactive social environment, so as to provide a ‘community’ atmosphere. The property includes a community room with a kitchen and fireplace, lounge area, library/media area, fitness room, outdoor patio, and an on-site office for the property manager. The property will also have 40 garage stalls that will be offered free of charge to tenants and ample surface parking for residents and guests.
